Wow, that is a wide river!
Yes Cap'n. This is the widest waterfall in Europe. It is 249m across.
That isn't much of a waterfall, though. It doesn't look very high. I don't think this is very good waterfall.
The waterfall is about 1.75m high. Some people don't think it should be a waterfall at all, but classified as a set of rapids. Personally, I think it is a waterfall, even if it isn't very high.
The fish migrate upstream, and the waterfall is a natural barrier. Therefore, good fishing spots!
What about the town it is located in? Kuldiga?
Kuldiga, pronounced like cool-dee-ga, is a quaint town. It has a lot of buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. Now most of them are shops in the center of the old town.
What about the river in town?
Running through the town is the Alekšupīte River, which is right next to the buildings. Since this is what the canals in Venice are like, Kuldiga is sometimes called the Venice of Latvia.
So this is what Venice is like? Lots of boats going from one place to another? I could get one those boats. I was born to sail! Aaaargh!
The Alekšupīte River might be a place for you to sail, but there aren't any boats on it today. It runs through the town and is more like a small canal than a river. It does make for some pretty scenery, though.
Bah. Who cares about the scenery? I want a boat that I can sail!
