And that isn't a restaurant for you to try Khao Soi Gai everywhere in Chiang Mai?
Hey! There's nothing wrong with comparisons between restaurants. (Khao Soi Gai is a Chiang Mai specialty with long, wide egg noodles in a spicy broth with fried egg noodles and fried chicken on top! You season it with lime, onions, garlic, chili...what ever you want!)
ANYWAY, there's plenty to do in Chiang Mai. So we decided to do something quiet and peaceful and beautiful. We went to the Bai Orchid and Butterfly Farm.
Before you think, "Watching flowers grow? Really?" you need to understand that orchids do not grow in the ground. Their roots absorb the water from the air, so this is a very different sort of place.
Plus, we went into the butterfly enclosure and were able to see loads of beautiful butterflies all over the place.
Here are some of the things we saw:
Orchids have REALLY long roots |
The flowers are bigger than Captain's head! |
The butterflies aren't tiny, either! |
Actually not an orchid: it's a bird of paradise |
So for a change of pace, this is a beautiful place with lots of shade. There's also a nice restaurant if you need to completely recharge!
